Forest officials have reported increased movement of wild animals near human settlements in and around Kumily over the past few days. Sightings of elephants, deer, and other wildlife have been recorded near forest border areas, especially during early morning and late night hours.
Authorities attribute the increased movement to factors such as seasonal changes, availability of water sources, and forest habitat patterns. Some animals were seen crossing plantation roads and moving close to residential zones located near forest fringes.
The Forest Department has issued cautionary advisories to residents, estate workers, and travelers, urging them to remain alert and avoid venturing into forest-adjacent areas during night hours. Patrol teams have been deployed to monitor animal movement and guide wildlife safely back into forest zones when necessary.
Officials emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored and requested public cooperation to prevent human–wildlife conflict. Residents have been advised not to provoke animals, avoid using bright lights or loud noises, and immediately inform forest authorities if wildlife is sighted near settlements.
The increased wildlife presence highlights the ecological sensitivity of the Kumily region, which lies close to protected forest areas, and underscores the importance of coexistence and conservation.
