Tourist Guide

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Cultural Heritage & Nature Interpreter to guide visitors through Kumily and the Thekkady region, known for its rich tribal culture, spice plantations, and proximity to the Periyar forests. The ideal candidate should be a strong storyteller who can deliver engaging cultural and nature-based experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead cultural walks, plantation visits, and nature-based tours
• Provide insightful commentary on Kumily’s history, tribal heritage, spice trade, and wildlife culture
• Explain local traditions, festivals, and eco-tourism practices
• Coordinate tour logistics and ensure visitor safety and comfort
• Customize tours based on visitor interests (culture, nature, wildlife, spices)
• Represent Kumily with professionalism and warm hospitality

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong knowledge of local history, culture, and environment
• Excellent storytelling and communication skills
• Fluency in Malayalam and English (other languages an advantage)
• Energetic, patient, and well-organized personality

Experience:

• 2–5 years preferred in tour guiding, cultural interpretation, or tourism
• Passionate locals with deep regional knowledge are encouraged to apply
